Business Owners Policy

A Business Owners Policy, often called a BOP, can package certain property and general liability protections for an eligible business. The package may be convenient, though its limits, exclusions, and available additions still deserve a careful review.

What to discuss

  • The place you operate
  • buildings and business property
  • a liability claim from a visitor or your operations
  • an interruption after covered property damage
  • which risks may need separate policies

Questions to bring

  • Does the package fit the way we work?
  • Are all locations and property included?
  • What events are excluded or limited?

Reading the details

Before choosing a policy, confirm the business's legal name, covered operations, locations, property or vehicles, limits, deductibles, exclusions, contract requirements, and effective date. Ask how changes in the business should be reported. A certificate of insurance does not change policy terms.

The right policy depends on the business's facts and the terms an insurer offers. We can listen, explain the choices and limits, and help you decide what further information is needed for a proposal.
