Professional Liability Insurance
General liability and professional liability address different kinds of risk. If clients rely on your advice, design, or service, an alleged error or omission may create a claim even when no one is physically injured and no property is damaged.
What to discuss
- The services you actually provide
- contracts and client expectations
- past work
- claim reporting terms
- limits, deductibles, exclusions, and any retroactive date or continuity requirements
Questions to bring
- What could go wrong in the service itself?
- Would a claim appear long after the work?
- Do our contracts promise more than a policy may cover?
Reading the details
Before choosing a policy, confirm the business's legal name, covered operations, locations, property or vehicles, limits, deductibles, exclusions, contract requirements, and effective date. Ask how changes in the business should be reported. A certificate of insurance does not change policy terms.
The right policy depends on the business's facts and the terms an insurer offers. We can listen, explain the choices and limits, and help you decide what further information is needed for a proposal.
